Device Identification & Specifications

Enter what you know. Do not dismantle the device to find a label. Serial number and IMEI are optional and only apply to certain devices.

Charger or power adapter — please complete if relevant

Chargers and power adapters can cause charging or power faults. If the problem involves charging, power, intermittent operation or overheating, we may ask you to provide the charger for assessment. Only send it when we have confirmed it is appropriate and safe to do so.

Damaged charger policy: do not post or bring a charger that is frayed, exposed, cracked, overheating, sparking or otherwise potentially unsafe unless we have specifically advised you how to proceed. If a damaged charger is received, we will not return it through ordinary post. Subject to applicable waste and safety requirements, it may be sent back at your expense using an agreed suitable method, or handled for appropriate disposal with your agreement. We will contact you to confirm the available option and any cost before proceeding.
Battery safety declaration: tell us if you have noticed swelling, bulging, leaking, unusual heat, hissing, cracking sounds, a chemical smell or smoke. Do not post or courier a device showing these signs.

Include spills, rain, damp, condensation or previous liquid exposure, even if the device still works.

Liquid Damage Details — complete if Yes or Unsure

If you are unsure, select “Unsure”. Do not open the device to check.

Liquid Metal / Thermal Interface History — complete if Yes or Unsure

Safety: do not open the device to answer these questions. Liquid metal can conduct electricity; suspected leakage or spread needs careful assessment before power is applied.

If an insurer has specific assessment, authorisation or reporting requirements, please tell us in the additional information field.

Please check any warranty conditions before authorising work, as opening or repairing a device may affect warranty coverage.

Please describe existing damage and any known problems with the casing, screen, ports, accessories or packaging.

You can select image files showing the device, existing damage, labels or the fault. Please avoid including personal or sensitive information in images.

You can attach audio recordings of unusual noises, beeps or other symptoms. If the form will not accept your files, mention this in the description and contact us before sending the device.

Device condition recording: Green Tech Repairs will take photographs and/or video of each device on arrival, whether received by walk-in handover or by post. This creates a record of the device’s visible condition at receipt and helps us document any damage that may have occurred during transit. Please pack posted devices securely and tell us about any existing damage before dispatch.
Software, operating system, backups & data permissions

Complete only the options relevant to your device. Do not enter passwords, PINs, recovery keys or account credentials.

What software or software-related help are you requesting?

Separate permissions — leave unticked unless you specifically agree.

A backup or recovery cannot be guaranteed. A data wipe, factory reset or operating-system reinstallation must not be carried out without specific authorisation. If a proposed repair could put data at risk, we may pause and contact you before proceeding. Software licences, subscriptions, paid applications and manufacturer-only tools may require separate purchase or may not be available.

Choose the package you want, use its matching payment link below to pay, then return to this page and click Submit Repair Details. If you are unsure which service you need, leave the selection open and submit the form as a general repair enquiry without paying.

If you select a paid package, submit the form and then pay using the matching link below. Do not send or post your device until transport or handover arrangements have been agreed.

Gaming equipment

Supported PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles, handheld gaming devices, controllers and gaming accessories.

Personal electronics

Supported Android and Apple iPhones and iPads, e-readers, cameras and selected audio equipment. iPods, Apple Watches and foldable phones are excluded.

Important repair limits — all device types: Green Tech Repairs does not offer soldering, micro-soldering, board-level repair or component-level circuit repair. This applies to computers, laptops, phones, tablets, consoles, handhelds and every other device category on this page. We cannot repair a fault if the required work involves soldering a port or component directly to a circuit board, repairing board tracks or pads, replacing chips, or other board-level work. We may be able to offer a supported replaceable-part or complete-assembly replacement instead, subject to assessment and parts availability.
Manufacturer-paired or coded parts: Some devices check or pair replacement components with the original device or manufacturer software. A replacement may need authorised configuration or calibration, may display a parts warning, or may not retain every original feature. We will explain any known limitation before work is approved. If the required pairing, programming or calibration is not available to us, we may be unable to complete that repair.

Supported Apple devices include iMac, MacBook Air and Pro, Mac mini, Mac Pro, Mac Studio, iPhone and iPad. We do not accept iPods, Apple Watches or foldable phones. Not every make, model or fault can be repaired.

Our cleaning and maintenance standard

1. Identify the device

We confirm the make, model, construction and requested package, and check whether the device is suitable for the proposed work.

2. Record its condition

We document visible condition on arrival and note existing damage, missing parts, accessories received and any safety concerns that can be identified.

3. Select appropriate methods

Cleaning methods and materials must be suitable for the device. Not every surface, port, screen coating, fan, connector or internal assembly can be treated in the same way.

4. Clean within the agreed scope

We carry out only the work agreed for the selected package and the particular device. If the device is unsuitable or additional work is required, we pause and discuss the options.

5. Reassemble where applicable

Where dismantling is part of the agreed service and safe reassembly is possible, accessible covers and components are refitted as appropriate.

6. Complete suitable checks

We carry out appropriate basic operational checks where possible and safe. Cleaning does not guarantee that an existing fault will be resolved.

The exact steps completed depend on the selected package, the device design, its condition and safe access. This is a service scope, not a promise to dismantle every device or to carry out specialist repairs as part of a cleaning price.

Safety, exclusions and work requiring a separate quote
Stop and tell us before transport: do not post or courier a device with a swollen, punctured, hot or damaged battery. Do not power on a device if liquid is present, liquid has recently entered it, or you suspect an internal leak. Contact us first to discuss a safe next step.
Why we advise against DIY repairs

We understand that customers may want to investigate a fault themselves. However, opening electronic equipment can involve electrical hazards, sharp edges, fragile glass, adhesive, stored electrical energy and batteries that can ignite if damaged. Forcing a cover, connector or glued component can also turn a repairable fault into more extensive damage.

  • Unplug equipment before external checks, but remember that unplugging does not make every internal component safe.
  • Never open a mains power supply or other high-voltage assembly unless properly qualified and equipped.
  • Never puncture, crush, bend, heat, short-circuit or attempt to dismantle a lithium-ion battery.
  • Do not continue charging or using a device that is swollen, leaking, unusually hot, hissing, smoking or giving off an unusual smell.
  • Back up important data before any repair where it is safe and possible to do so. A repair attempt or software work can put data at risk.

If a battery is smoking or the device is on fire, get away, raise the alarm, get out and call 999. Do not handle or attempt to transport it.

  • Liquid damage: cleaning is not liquid-damage treatment. Corrosion assessment, specialist cleaning, diagnostics and repairs require separate assessment and may not be possible.
  • Liquid metal: liquid-metal thermal compounds can be electrically conductive and may damage components if displaced. Handling or removal is not automatically included and requires specific agreement.
  • Swollen, leaking or damaged batteries: stop using and charging the device. Do not press, puncture, bend, open or attempt to remove the battery. Do not post or courier the device to us. Contact us first so we can discuss a safe next step. If a device arrives with a suspected hazardous battery, work will stop while we contact you and assess what can safely be done.
  • Battery removal and additional charges: a repair cannot proceed while a battery condition makes the device unsafe to work on. If safe battery removal or specialist handling may be possible, we will explain the proposed work and its separate charge and obtain your authorisation before arranging it. Where applicable, the charge will be invoiced and must be settled before the device can be accepted as ready for ordinary repair. If safe handling is not available, we may decline the repair and advise you to contact the manufacturer or an appropriate specialist. We will not undertake chargeable work without your agreement.
  • Electrical safety: do not open mains-powered equipment, power supplies or other equipment unless you are competent to do so. Some components can retain hazardous electrical energy even after unplugging. Do not use damaged, frayed, exposed-wire, overheating or sparking chargers or cables.
  • DIY repair attempts: forcing covers, clips, connectors or glued assemblies can cause injury or further damage. Stop if a device is unusually hot, swollen, leaking, smoking, hissing or giving off an unusual chemical smell. If it is smoking or on fire, move away, get out, raise the alarm and call 999; do not handle it.
  • High voltage: some power supplies, monitors and other equipment can retain hazardous electrical charge. Internal work may be excluded where safe service access cannot be established.
  • Sealed or fragile construction: adhesive, clips, glass, seals, corrosion, prior damage or previous repair attempts can make opening risky or uneconomic.
  • Repairs and parts: replacement components, fault diagnosis, data recovery, operating-system work, board-level repairs, soldering, port replacement and other repairs are not included unless quoted separately.
  • Specialist systems: custom liquid-cooling loops, liquid-metal applications, optical calibration, sensor cleaning, high-voltage equipment and specialist industrial or medical equipment require separate review.
  • Contamination: mould, pests, biological contamination, hazardous residues, heavy smoke residue or unknown chemical contamination may be refused or require specialist handling.

We may decline, limit or stop work if inspection identifies a safety concern, concealed damage, missing parts, a condition that was not disclosed, or a risk that makes the proposed service unsuitable. We will explain the concern and discuss options before undertaking work outside the agreed scope.

Before you bring in or post your device
Customer preparation checklist
  • Record the make, model and serial/model reference if available, but do not post sensitive account information.
  • Describe all known faults, liquid exposure, previous repairs, modifications and any unusual noises, smells, heat or warning lights.
  • Back up important data before handover where the device allows it. We cannot guarantee that data will remain accessible during any service or diagnostic process.
  • Do not provide passwords, PINs or account credentials in this enquiry form. If a functional test later requires access, discuss a safe, limited method with us.
  • Remove unnecessary accessories unless they are needed to demonstrate the fault. List any charger, cable, controller, dock or other item you include.
  • For postal enquiries, wait until we have confirmed that we can consider the device and explained the next step. Pack it securely with suitable cushioning and protect screens, corners and moving parts.
  • Do not send a swollen or damaged battery, a leaking device or a device that may be unsafe to transport. Contact us first. If the device is smoking or actively overheating, do not bring it to the shop or attempt to transport it.
  • If the fault involves charging, power or intermittent operation, tell us whether the charger is original/manufacturer-supplied, compatible third-party, new or previously used. If safe and requested, include the charger so we can assess whether it may be contributing to the fault.
Postal packaging and transit condition

Use a strong outer box with cushioning on all sides, prevent the device moving inside the package, protect fragile screens and corners, and avoid relying on a thin retail box alone. Keep a record of the packaging and parcel condition before dispatch. Follow the carrier’s restrictions for batteries and electronic equipment.

Photographs of the device before packing and of the packed parcel can help document its condition before transit. Please tell us about any existing cracks, dents, loose parts, liquid exposure or packaging concerns in the form.

Carrier rules and compensation conditions vary. It is the sender’s responsibility to use a permitted service and suitable packaging. We will record the device’s visible condition when it arrives, but arrival recording cannot by itself establish when or how every item of damage occurred.

Condition records, photographs, video and customer files

Green Tech Repairs will take photographs and/or video of each device on arrival, whether handed in in person or received by post. The record is intended to document visible condition at receipt, including existing marks or damage and, where relevant, the state of the packaging. It can help us compare the condition at arrival with the condition described before dispatch.

Customers may attach relevant images and audio recordings to the enquiry if the form supports the file types and sizes selected. Images can show existing damage, the device model label or visible symptoms; audio can help describe intermittent noises, fan noise or beep patterns.

Only send files relevant to the enquiry. Avoid images that reveal personal messages, account details, payment information or other sensitive data. Please do not attach illegal content or files unrelated to the device.

File-upload controls are displayed on this form, but successful delivery of attachments depends on the form provider’s current upload configuration, file limits and supported file types. If an attachment fails, submit the enquiry without it and contact us to agree another way to provide the evidence. Photos and videos should be stored and handled only as needed for service records, assessment, communication and the resolution of any condition or transit query, subject to the business’s applicable privacy practices.

What happens next?

1. We review your enquiry

We check the device details and reported symptoms against the service selected and the work covered by that package.

2. We discuss the options

If the reported fault requires parts or work outside the selected package, we will explain the options and any additional cost before proceeding.

3. You decide

Your selected package and payment do not automatically include replacement parts or work outside its stated scope. We will discuss any additional chargeable work with you before proceeding.

Repair by Post
