Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions explain how Green Tech Repairs handles repair enquiries, quotations, repairs, payments, postage, warranties and devices entrusted to us.

Last updated: October 2026

Please read these terms before sending a device to us or authorising repair work. These terms do not remove or restrict any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

1. About Our Services

Green Tech Repairs provides computer, gaming and electronics repair services from Microshops, The Shires Shopping Centre, Court Street, Trowbridge, Wiltshire BA14 8AT.

We assess devices, investigate reported faults and, where agreed, carry out maintenance, cleaning, component replacement, upgrades and other suitable repair work. The availability of a service depends on the device, its condition, parts availability and our technical assessment.

Repair enquiries may be submitted online. Submitting an enquiry is not, by itself, confirmation that we have accepted the device for repair or agreed to carry out chargeable work.

2. Repair Enquiries and Acceptance

Information submitted through our website helps us understand the device, the symptoms reported and the service requested.

  • An enquiry is a request for assessment or service, not a confirmed repair booking unless we expressly confirm otherwise.
  • We may ask for further information before deciding whether we can accept a device.
  • We may decline work that is outside our capabilities, unsafe to undertake or unsuitable for repair.
  • We will explain proposed chargeable work and seek your approval before carrying out additional work.

Sending a device to us or handing it over for assessment means you agree to the applicable arrangements in these terms, subject to your statutory rights and any specific terms agreed in writing.

3. Device Information and Faults

Please describe the fault as accurately as possible. Include relevant symptoms, warning messages, damage, intermittent problems and any circumstances in which the fault occurs.

A device may have more than one fault. An initial symptom may be caused by another component or an underlying problem that cannot be identified until the device has been inspected or tested.

We cannot guarantee that every fault will be identifiable from an online description or that a repair will be possible before the device has been assessed.

4. Quotations and Approval

We aim to provide a quotation within seven working days where the device and the information required for assessment are available. This is a target, not a guaranteed deadline.

A quotation will describe the proposed work and the charges known at that stage. Further faults, unavailable parts or findings during disassembly may require a revised quotation.

  • We will seek your approval before undertaking additional chargeable work.
  • If you decline a revised quotation, charges already properly agreed or incurred may remain payable where applicable and lawful.
  • Assessment, return postage or other charges will only be applied where they have been disclosed and agreed, or are otherwise lawfully payable.

No additional repair work will be treated as authorised merely because we have identified a further fault.

5. Prices, Parts and Labour

The following prices apply to the specific service listed. A fixed service price covers the stated service only and does not automatically include replacement parts, unrelated repairs or work outside the agreed scope.

Deep Cleaning & Thermal Servicing £29.99
Desktop CPU Thermal Paste Replacement £29.99
Laptop CPU Thermal Paste Replacement £49.99
Hardware Upgrade & Part Installation £39.99
Performance Tuning & Optimisation £39.99
Software Updates & Patching £29.99
Ultimate Complete Strip-Down Service £79.99
Thermal Pad Replacement Quotation required
Not sure / General Enquiry Quotation required

Parts and additional work are charged separately where required and will be discussed with you before they are ordered or undertaken. The final agreed quotation will identify the applicable charges.

Thermal Pad Replacement is quoted individually because the required materials, dimensions, thicknesses, device construction and work involved can vary. General enquiries are assessed individually and may require inspection before a quotation can be provided.

Submitting a repair enquiry does not itself authorise chargeable work. We will explain the proposed service, its scope and the applicable charges before proceeding.

6. Payment

Payment arrangements will be confirmed when the service and any quotation are agreed. Any deposit, payment deadline or balance due will be explained before you commit to the relevant charge.

Where payment is due before a device is returned or dispatched, we may retain the device until the agreed amount has been paid, to the extent permitted by law.

We will not treat a disputed or unapproved additional repair charge as authorised simply because the original repair was approved.

7. Turnaround Times

The following are estimates for the relevant service, once the necessary work can begin:

  • Deep Cleaning & Thermal Servicing: approximately 1–3 working days.
  • Ultimate Complete Strip-Down Service: approximately 1–3 working days.

Timescales for Software Updates & Patching, Performance Tuning & Optimisation, Hardware Upgrade & Part Installation, thermal paste replacement and other work will depend on the device, the fault, the agreed scope and any parts required. We will provide an estimate appropriate to the individual job.

These estimates are not guaranteed completion dates. Actual timing depends on diagnostic findings, repair complexity, parts availability, workload and any required customer approval. For repair-by-post services, courier transit time is additional.

We will communicate significant delays where reasonably practicable. We will not knowingly represent an estimate as a confirmed deadline.

8. Repair-by-Post and Shipping

Repair-by-post services may be available to customers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, subject to device eligibility and acceptance.

  • You are responsible for arranging and paying for delivery of the device to us.
  • You must use suitable protective packaging to reduce the risk of damage in transit.
  • You are responsible for choosing appropriate shipping insurance for the device’s value and for retaining proof of postage.
  • Return delivery, packaging and insurance charges will be explained and charged as agreed.
  • Courier delivery times are outside our direct control.

Do not post or courier a device with a swollen, leaking, unusually hot or otherwise damaged battery. Contact us first for safe instructions. Such devices may be unsafe to transport through ordinary postal or courier services.

Please contact us promptly if a device is damaged in transit and retain the packaging and relevant delivery records for any carrier claim.

9. Data and Backups

You should back up important files before submitting a device for repair wherever the device remains capable of being backed up. Repair work can involve testing, software changes, component replacement or circumstances in which data becomes inaccessible.

We do not guarantee that data will be preserved, recovered or accessible after repair. Data recovery is not offered as a service merely because a device contains files that become inaccessible.

We will not intentionally access personal content unless reasonably necessary for the authorised repair or testing. You should remove confidential material where practicable before submitting the device.

Do not send PINs, passwords or account credentials in a public enquiry form. If access is genuinely required for an agreed test, we will explain the requirement and discuss an appropriate arrangement separately.

10. Liquid Damage and Existing Faults

Liquid damage, corrosion, contamination, previous repair attempts, liquid-metal applications and damage caused by earlier work can complicate diagnosis and repair.

  • Liquid damage can cause faults that appear immediately or develop later.
  • Corrosion and contamination may affect components beyond the area initially visible.
  • Previous repairs or modifications may affect access, compatibility, reliability or the feasibility of further work.
  • Liquid metal and other thermal materials require appropriate handling and may have caused or contributed to existing damage.
  • Insurance-related repairs or assessments may affect the device’s condition, parts or repair history.

Please disclose known liquid exposure, previous repairs, liquid-metal use, insurance work and existing damage when submitting your enquiry. We may need to revise a quotation or decline work after inspection.

Our repair warranty does not cover liquid damage or unrelated pre-existing faults, subject always to your statutory rights and any rights arising from our own work.

11. Parts and Availability

Repairs depend on the availability, compatibility and condition of suitable parts. We may need to source parts from third-party suppliers.

If a required part becomes unavailable, is delayed or proves incompatible, we will explain the available options. A revised quotation or completion estimate may be necessary.

Replacement parts may be new, refurbished or otherwise specified in the quotation. We will not knowingly misrepresent the type of part supplied.

12. Repair Warranty

Green Tech Repairs provides a 40-day labour warranty on qualifying repair work, starting from completion of the relevant repair, unless a different period is expressly confirmed in writing.

The labour warranty applies to the work carried out and does not automatically cover:

  • Liquid damage, corrosion or contamination.
  • Faults unrelated to the repair performed.
  • Pre-existing damage or faults not caused by our work.
  • New accidental damage, misuse or unauthorised intervention after the repair.
  • Further failures caused by a separate component or an underlying condition outside the agreed work.

Any warranty supplied with a replacement part may be subject to separate supplier or manufacturer conditions. We will explain relevant conditions where applicable.

If you believe a repair has failed, contact us with the repair details and a description of the problem so that we can assess it. Do not arrange further work on the affected repair without first contacting us where practicable.

Nothing in this section limits statutory rights, including rights that may apply where services have not been performed with reasonable care and skill.

13. Beyond Economical Repair

A device may be assessed as beyond economical repair where the required work is not reasonably practical or the likely cost is disproportionate to the device’s value or the available repair options.

We will explain the assessment and any available options. A device being beyond economical repair does not, by itself, authorise us to dispose of it immediately.

You may request return of the device. Any applicable return packaging, postage, insurance or previously agreed charges will be explained before arrangements are made.

If you instruct us to recycle or dispose of a device, we will handle it through an appropriate route, subject to applicable legal requirements.

14. Uncollected and Unclaimed Devices

Please collect or arrange return of your device promptly once we notify you that it is ready or that we have completed our assessment.

Where a device remains uncollected for more than 31 days from our receipt of it, we may contact you to arrange collection, return delivery or another agreed outcome.

We will take reasonable steps to contact you and explain the position before considering further action. The 31-day period does not automatically transfer ownership of the device to us or, by itself, authorise disposal or repurposing.

Any disposal, recycling or repurposing of an unclaimed device will be subject to applicable law, appropriate notice and any other mandatory legal requirements. We will consider the circumstances and the steps required before taking such action.

Any charges associated with storage, return delivery or disposal will only be imposed where they have been properly disclosed, agreed or are otherwise legally recoverable.

15. Customer Responsibilities

When submitting a device, you are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate contact details and a truthful description of known faults and damage.
  • Disclosing relevant previous repairs, insurance work, liquid exposure and modifications known to you.
  • Backing up important data where practicable.
  • Removing accessories that are not required for the agreed service, unless we ask you to include them.
  • Packaging the device securely when sending it by post or courier.
  • Reviewing quotations and approving any additional chargeable work before it proceeds.
  • Arranging collection or return delivery and paying agreed charges when due.

16. Cancellations and Consumer Rights

If you wish to cancel an enquiry, booking or agreed service, contact us as soon as possible. We will explain whether work has started and what, if any, charges are lawfully payable.

Where a contract is made at a distance or off premises, statutory cancellation rights may apply. The applicable rules can depend on the type of contract, when work begins and whether you have made a valid request for a service to begin during a cancellation period.

We will not treat statutory cancellation rights as waived merely because a device has been sent to us. Any request to begin work during a statutory cancellation period, and any applicable acknowledgement of the consequences, must be handled in accordance with the law.

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded, including applicable rights under consumer protection legislation.

17. Liability

We will perform agreed services with reasonable care and skill and handle devices entrusted to us with appropriate care.

We do not exclude or restrict liability where doing so would be unlawful. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to applicable law, we are not responsible for loss caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including courier delays or supplier disruption, or for faults and damage that existed before the device was received and were not caused by our work.

Nothing in these terms removes any remedy available to you where loss or damage results from our failure to meet our legal obligations.

18. Privacy and Personal Information

We use personal information supplied through repair enquiries and during service arrangements to respond to you, assess requests, administer repairs, communicate about devices and manage related records.

Information submitted through our online forms may be processed by the relevant form service provider to deliver your enquiry. Payment information, where applicable, may be processed by the payment provider used for the transaction.

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable data protection law. Please read our Privacy Policy for further details about the information we collect, how it is used, how long it is retained and your rights.

Privacy Policy: Read our Privacy Policy.

19. Complaints and Disputes

If you are dissatisfied with our service, please contact us and explain the issue, including the relevant device and repair details. We will review the matter and aim to respond fairly and constructively.

Where a dispute concerns a repair, we may need to inspect the device or review the repair records before deciding what action is appropriate.

These terms are subject to the laws applicable to the relevant consumer contract. Nothing in this section prevents you from exercising statutory rights or pursuing any remedy available under applicable law.

20. Changes and Contact

We may update these Terms & Conditions when our services, processes or legal requirements change. The version published on this page applies subject to any specific terms agreed with you and your statutory rights.
