Workstation Problems & Repairs

Workstations are often more complex than ordinary desktop computers. They may contain high-performance processors, professional graphics hardware, multiple storage devices, powerful cooling systems and specialist expansion cards.

A workstation that crashes, overheats, freezes, becomes unstable or refuses to start may have more than one contributing fault. We therefore diagnose the system before recommending chargeable repair work.

We work from the symptoms you describe and the evidence found during diagnosis rather than simply replacing the component that appears to be responsible.

Important information before bringing or sending a workstation
  • Workstations can contain heavy graphics cards, large cooling systems and multiple drives. Please transport equipment securely.
  • Systems containing swollen or damaged batteries must not be sent by post or courier. Contact us before attempting transport.
  • Liquid damage can cause corrosion and electrical damage that may not be immediately visible.
  • Liquid metal cooling compounds require particular care because conductive material can cause serious electrical damage if it has escaped its intended area.
  • Previous repair attempts, modifications or incorrectly installed components can affect diagnosis and repairability.
  • Modular PSU cables must never be assumed to be interchangeable between different power-supply models. Using an incorrect modular cable can cause severe component damage.
  • Electrical damage may affect more than one component, so the visible symptom may not identify the original cause.
  • Do not continue operating a system if there is evidence of burning, smoke, electrical arcing, liquid contamination or a serious power-supply fault.

Diagnostic & Service Options

Choose the service that best matches what you need. Diagnosis is used to establish the cause of the reported problem before chargeable repair work is recommended.

General Diagnostic

£39.99

A structured diagnostic for a workstation experiencing a specific fault, failure or performance problem. We investigate the reported symptoms, carry out appropriate testing and identify the likely cause of the problem.

This is suitable where you need the problem identified before deciding whether to proceed with repair.

Choose General Diagnostic

Advanced Diagnostic

£74.99

A more extensive diagnostic service for complex, intermittent or difficult-to-isolate workstation problems.

This may involve deeper hardware testing, component isolation, stability testing and investigation where several possible causes need to be considered.

Choose Advanced Diagnostic

PC & Laptop Deep Clean

£24.99

A professional internal and external clean intended to remove accumulated dust and debris from the system and improve airflow and general cleanliness.

This service is separate from fault diagnosis and does not replace diagnostic testing where a workstation has an underlying fault.

Please describe: What the workstation is doing, what you expected it to do, when the problem started, whether the problem happens repeatedly and anything that changed shortly before the problem appeared.
