What Is Wrong With Your MacBook?

1. Power, Charging & No-Response Faults
Power faults can originate from the battery, charger, charging circuitry, USB-C or MagSafe connection, logic board, firmware or another internal component. A diagnostic may be required before a repair can be confirmed.
2. Startup, macOS & Operating System Problems
Software symptoms can sometimes be caused by failing storage, memory, overheating or other hardware faults. We therefore do not assume that a startup problem is purely software without appropriate checks.
3. Display, Screen, Backlight & Graphics Problems
A display fault may involve the screen assembly, display cable, connector, graphics hardware, operating system or logic board. Exact MacBook model identification is important before quoting display work.
4. Battery, Charging & Power Management
Swollen battery warning: stop using and charging the MacBook if the battery appears swollen, the case is lifting, the trackpad is rising or there is another indication of battery expansion. Do not post a swollen-battery MacBook using normal courier services. Contact us first so the safest route can be discussed.
5. Keyboard, Trackpad & Input Problems
Keyboard and trackpad assemblies vary between MacBook generations. A swollen battery can also affect the trackpad and should be treated as a safety issue rather than simply an input-device fault.
6. Storage, SSD & Data Problems
Data warning: we cannot guarantee recovery of data from failed storage or a failed logic board. If important data is still accessible, tell us before repair work begins so the data situation can be considered first.
7. Memory, RAM & Performance
MacBook memory architecture depends on generation. Many Apple silicon MacBooks use unified memory integrated into the system architecture and do not support conventional RAM upgrades. We will identify the exact model before recommending an upgrade or repair.
8. CPU, Apple Silicon & Thermal Performance
Apple silicon MacBooks integrate major system functions into highly integrated chip and board designs. We do not treat CPU or Apple silicon faults as conventional desktop-style processor replacements.
9. Fans, Cooling & Overheating
Cooling faults may be caused by dust, restricted airflow, a fan fault, thermal management problems or another hardware/software issue. We can assess whether a deep clean or repair is appropriate.
10. USB-C, Thunderbolt, MagSafe & Other Ports
Port faults can involve the port assembly, connector, cable, charger, power circuitry or logic board. Do not force damaged connectors into a MacBook port.
11. External Displays, Docks & Accessories
External display and dock behaviour depends on the MacBook generation, chip, operating system and adapter or dock being used. Apple silicon models can have model-specific external-display limitations.
12. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & Networking
Wireless problems can originate from macOS configuration, network equipment, interference, wireless hardware, antennas or another internal fault. We assess the MacBook rather than assuming the wireless hardware is defective.
13. Camera, Microphone & Audio
Camera, microphone and audio faults can involve hardware, permissions, macOS configuration, cables or internal assemblies. If the fault started after liquid exposure, tell us before repair.
14. Touch Bar, Touch ID & Sensors — Model Dependent
Touch Bar and Touch ID features are model dependent. Security-linked Apple components can have pairing or authentication restrictions, so replacement options depend on the exact MacBook generation and component involved.
15. Recovery, Firmware & Security Problems
Security warning: we cannot bypass Activation Lock or other Apple security protections without legitimate ownership and the required credentials or authorised process. Bring appropriate proof of ownership and account access where required.
16. Physical, Liquid & Impact Damage
Liquid-damage warning: liquid damage can cause immediate and delayed failures. Liquid-related work is assessed individually and is not covered by the standard labour warranty. Do not continue charging a liquid-damaged MacBook unless specifically advised.
17. Unknown, Intermittent & Complex Faults
Intermittent and complex faults normally require diagnostic investigation. Please provide as much information as possible about when the problem happens, what was being done at the time and whether anything changed immediately beforehand.

Apple Silicon & Integrated Components

  • Apple silicon MacBooks use highly integrated system architecture.
  • Unified memory is not a conventional removable RAM module.
  • Storage arrangements vary by generation and configuration.
  • CPU/GPU and other integrated-system faults require model-specific assessment.

Battery Safety

  • Do not continue using a MacBook with a visibly swollen battery.
  • Do not charge a severely damaged or swollen battery.
  • Do not send a swollen-battery MacBook by normal courier.
  • Contact us first so a safe route can be arranged.

Liquid Damage

  • Liquid exposure can cause faults immediately or weeks later.
  • Disconnect power where it is safe to do so.
  • Do not assume that a MacBook that still turns on is unaffected.
  • Liquid-related work is excluded from the standard labour warranty.

Security & Ownership

  • Activation Lock cannot be bypassed without legitimate ownership access.
  • Bring the required credentials or authorised ownership evidence.
  • Security-linked components may have model-specific restrictions.
  • We will not circumvent Apple’s security protections.
