1. Preparation
- System State: Fully power down; do not use sleep or hibernate.
- Screen Protection: Use a high-quality protective film or microfiber layer between the keyboard and display to prevent key-mark etching on the panel.
- Peripheral Removal: Detach docking stations, port replicators, and loose external components.
2. The Box-in-Box Method
- Inner Box: Wrap the chassis in 6cm of anti-static material. Ensure it is placed in a rigid carton that prevents any lateral movement.
- Outer Box: A new, double-wall corrugated box providing at least 14cm of clearance on every side.
- Cushioning: Use industrial-grade foam inserts to ensure the laptop is immobilized.
3. Labelling & Documentation
- Fragile Labelling: Affix “FRAGILE – ENTERPRISE HARDWARE” and “HANDLE WITH CARE” labels on all sides.
- Documentation: Include your full name, return address, and service reference inside the box.
Important: Ensure full insurance coverage for the total value of the device, as enterprise hardware often contains sensitive data and high-cost components.
