Packaging Guide: Custom Water-Cooled Desktop
1. Preparation
- System Drain: The custom loop must be fully drained. Shipping with coolant presents a significant risk of internal leakage and hardware damage.
- Internal Support: Use anti-static foam inserts to brace the GPU and reservoir, preventing mechanical stress on the PCIe and mounting hardware.
- Chassis Security: Ensure all panels are secured and internal cables are tucked to prevent movement during transit.
2. The Box-in-Box Method
- Inner Box: Wrap the chassis in 6cm of anti-static bubble wrap. Place in a snug, rigid inner carton.
- Outer Box: Use a new, double-wall corrugated box that provides 14cm of clearance on all sides.
- Cushioning: Fill all voids with high-density foam or industrial packing material to ensure the unit is immobile.
3. Labelling & Documentation
- Fragile Labelling: Affix “FRAGILE – CUSTOM DESKTOP” and “HANDLE WITH CARE” stickers on all sides.
- Orientation: Use “THIS WAY UP” arrows on opposite sides.
- Documentation: Include your full name, return address, and service reference inside the box.
Important: Ensure full insurance for the total value of components, as custom liquid-cooled systems are highly susceptible to impact damage.
