Packaging Guide: Modular Laptop
1. Preparation
- System State: Power off the device completely and perform a battery disconnect if accessible via the modular interface.
- Module Security: Ensure all modular components are firmly seated and locked into their respective slots. Loose modules can shift and damage delicate internal pins during transit.
- Chassis Protection: Since these chassis are designed for access, ensure all chassis fasteners are tightened and the exterior is wrapped in anti-static film to protect the service-friendly surfaces.
2. The Box-in-Box Method
- Inner Box: Wrap the laptop in 6cm of anti-static bubble wrap. Place it securely in a rigid, custom-fit inner carton that prevents internal rattling.
- Outer Box: Use a new, double-wall corrugated box providing 14cm of clearance on all sides.
- Cushioning: Use industrial foam blocks to fully immobilize the device.
3. Labelling & Documentation
- Fragile Labelling: Affix “FRAGILE – MODULAR ELECTRONICS” and “HANDLE WITH CARE” labels on all sides.
- Documentation: Include your full name, return address, and service reference inside the box.
Important: Ensure full insurance coverage, as the value of modular components can be significantly higher than standard integrated units.
