Packaging Guide: NUC Elements
1. Preparation
- System State: Completely power off the device. Disconnect all external peripherals.
- Module Integrity: If shipping the NUC Element independently, it must be housed in an anti-static bag and a rigid protective case to protect the delicate edge connector pins.
- Chassis Security: Ensure all fasteners holding the Compute Element to the Board Element are secure, as vibration during transit can lead to poor contact at the interface.
2. The Box-in-Box Method
- Inner Box: Wrap the unit in 8cm of high-density anti-static foam. Place in a custom-fit, rigid inner carton to prevent any shifting.
- Outer Box: A new, double-wall corrugated box providing at least 15cm of clearance on every side.
- Cushioning: Use industrial foam blocks to ensure the unit is completely immobilized; the edge connector is highly sensitive to shock.
3. Labelling & Documentation
- Fragile Labelling: Affix “FRAGILE – MODULAR COMPUTING” and “HANDLE WITH CARE” labels on all sides.
- Documentation: Include your full name, return address, and service reference inside the box.
Important: Ensure full insurance coverage, as the Compute Element’s edge connector is a high-precision component that can be permanently damaged by improper handling or impact.
